Diehl: Cape Cod Needs Caring Senator

Press Release

Date: Aug. 11, 2018
Location: Eastham, MA

Today while Senator Elizabeth Warren was rallying in Eastham, Representative Geoff Diehl, the endorsed Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, criticized the incumbent for failing to make Cape Cod a priority and suggested that Warren kick-off an apology tour in Eastham for her reckless statements against law enforcement.

"Instead of lecturing the people of Eastham, Warren should be apologizing for calling for the abolishment of ICE and saying that the entire criminal justice system is racist," said Diehl. "Eastham should serve as her starting point for traveling the Commonwealth to make amends to the people of Massachusetts and law enforcement."

On Thursday federal prosecutors in Boston charged Brandon Ziobroski for tweeting that he would pay anyone $500 who kills an ICE agent.

While in New Orleans, Warren stated the following: "Let's just start with the hard truth about our criminal justice system. It's racist. It is. And when I say our system, I mean all the way. I mean front to back." At another rally Warren called for the abolishment of ICE.

"Our law enforcement deserves a Senator who will stand with them," said Diehl.

Diehl also pointed out Warren's failure to make Cape Cod a priority. Not until she announced her re-election did she start holding town hall meetings on the Cape. Last summer she spent more time in Georgia than Cape Cod. It should be noted that Warren's Eastham town hall/rally coincides with her holding a high dollar Martha's Vineyard fundraiser.

"I will be a hands-on Senator who will care about the Cape and its many unique issues," said Diehl. "I will not be a part-time Senator, part-time author, and part-time presidential candidate. People can count on me."

As the next United States Senator, Diehl plans on turning his "Diehl on Wheels" campaign RV into a mobile office. Cape Codders won't have to drive to Boston to see their Senator. Diehl will come to them.

Diehl recently launched Cape Codders for Diehl and the endorsement from Sheriff Jim Cummings.
